I recently acquired an S10 but even before I got I I felt the seat height was too high for aggressive whitewater. I'll be paddling it as a canoe, with a single paddle, kneeling. But I do want something to lean on or sit on. In my river trippers, I have my web seats lowered by a half inch in front for kneeling and in my OC2 we have pedestals.

I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on options to lower the seat. What about installing some D-rings and strapping an inflatable kayak thwart into it as a pedestal?

Thanks.

Your post is over a year old but it might help others with similar issues. I have an s-12 and I use an IK type seat (actually from a SUP board made by ZOIK) that sits on the floor tubes. I also have a cam strap down at my feet so I can brace hard and push against my butt in the seat so I feel one with the SOAR. I've crawled up pretty tall haystack waves without losing it (yet) and the braced position really allows you to hip check around paddle strokes. I am using a long kayak paddle, a canoe paddle won't work well down low.

I have used cam straps on my hardwood seats hanging a little lower than above the grommet rail in the kneeling position with decent results but like the aggressive, lower stance for Class 3+.

Hello,  i had an s10 several years ago and felt the seat was too high also.  i don't feel that way in my s12.  I believe the one i had was one of the first ones made and i thought maybe it has been changed since then.  not sure though.  i was wondering how others like the s10.  Am considering buying another one if i can find one used.  doesn't seem to much much about it from anyone.   do you know of anyone else that has an s10?  what are their thoughts on it?
